About Me

I have lived in Nassau for the last 5 years, and have loved every moment! I fell in love with Bahamian culture the moment I set foot on the island. The relaxed atmosphere, the kind and loving people, and of course the sunshine. One of my favorite things to do in my free time is to go to the beaches that are all over the island.

In Europe, it was hard to find beaches that compare to the Bahamas, so I try to go as much as I can. I want to provide you with some insider knowledge of the island. This list should cover all the information you need to have a memorable holiday here.

If you have been to the Bahamas before, or if this is your first time, you will most likely spend most of your time in the water or on the beach. You may have your eyes set on some beautiful places you found online, however, some additional landmarks can’t hurt!

One of my personal favorites in the list is Jaws Beach, the shallow water creates the perfect setting for a relaxing day. The beach is an example of Bahamian paradise, it is the remote, quiet beach you imagine when you see pictures of the islands. While the other beaches on the list are also amazing, Jaws beach will always be a weekend getaway for myself and my family.

Overview

Believe it or not, Nassau offers different kinds of beaches. You can find varying landscapes all over the island. The Beaches on the North side of the island are covered in the sand which has made the Bahamas a tourist destination. Surrounded by residential areas, the beaches in the North are close to big resorts such as Bahamar. They are also walking distances from shopping areas. Yet, you can find secluded romantic getaways scattered across the northern shoreline, just read this guide to get insider knowledge!

There are also beaches on the East side of the island. Historic landmarks are scattered along the shores of the Eastern side of Nassau. However the beaches are more rocky and less sandy than those on the North side. The beaches on the south provide a remote feeling, coral beaches and flat water surround towns such as Adelaide.

The water may not be as picturesque as those in the North, but you can find beautiful nature such as mangroves and trees which line the areas for miles. The beaches in the west are more private than the rest of the island. Although there are not too many to choose from, these empty beaches give you the chance to get away from the tourist locations. Clifton Heritage park is situated in the west, with beautiful sea life and protected nature, this national park is a destination you have to see.

Located in the Clifton Heritage park, Jaws beach offers a taste of island life. Hidden in the west side of New Providence, the shallow, turquoise water is perfect for a relaxing family outing. Once a filming location for the final instalment of Jaws, this beach is both an attraction for movie lovers and locals who want to get away from the crowded beaches that are found on the north side of the island. This really does stand out compared to the other beaches on the island.

The stunning views and beautiful water contradict the menacing name of the beach. Don’t let the name of the beach scare you! It is an experience any island lover should enjoy. If you want to visit this beach, you can rent one of our vehicles and drive there or jump on one of our shuttles.

Busses are functioning all over the island, however let your driver know that you want to go to Jaws beach, as bus #12 may just drive past it as there aren’t a lot of bus stops on the island. You’re in luck, this secluded beach is only 15 minutes from Villa Northwinds, Viking Hill, and Tropical Gardens.

Reviews

Jaws beach gets great reviews from guests, with may arguing that its the best beach to visit on the island! Stating that it is exactly like the photos, the beach is secluded and surrounded by turquoise water. You can also be sure that the waters will be quiet, as there is a national park in the area. This also gives you the opportunity to organize a tour with our shuttle service, we will be happy to drive you to various areas around Jaws Beach.

With protected coral reefs scattered across the shore, Love Beach is a reminder that you are in paradise. Also located on the North side of the island, Love Beach has been a staple for families who want to enjoy snorkelling, or relax in the sun.

Don’t let the relaxing ambience distract you from the various restaurants and bars a short walk from the location. You can sneak away from the family outing for a refreshment! Or if you are hungry, we can organise a chef service to provide a dining experience on the beach.

Love Beach is only a 5 minute journey from our ocean front properties Tropical Gardens, Viking Hill, and Villa Northwinds. As we mentioned that there are coral reefs just off Love beach, you will need snorkeling gear. We have snorkelling gear available for hire. If you aren’t interested in snorkelling we can also provide you with kayaks, just ask one of our team and we will be happy to help.

Reviews

Love beach has also accumulated amazing reviews from guests. Reviews consistently praise the location of the beach, situated on the north side which makes it easy to access for tourists all over the island. It gets coined as a snorkelling hotspot with beautiful sand scattered for miles. Quiet residential areas are close by, so it isn’t over crowded with tourists.

Located on the south side of the island, Adelaide beach is a hidden gem in New Providence. Although it is secluded from other beaches, it really makes you feel like you are on a remote island.

With no tourists in sight, you really get a feel for the island experience. Situated by Adelaide village, you can find various cafes and local eateries to indulge in some Bahamian cuisine. There are authentic restaurants all over the island but you will find some tucked away in Adelaide, some of the restaurants in the town serve some of the best food on the island, and you wont forget it! Please don’t hesitate to contact us to organise a shuttle so you and your loved ones can enjoy a day in the sun.

Just down the road you can also find Coral Harbour beach. Coral Harbour Beach is similar to Adalaide beach as it is also remote on the south side of the island. With less tourists finding the beach, you can have some peace and quiet. The trees which line the beach provide shade from the sun and a nice place for you and the family to have a picnic.

Reviews

What separates Adalaide beach from the others is the nature. As mentioned already, the remote feel to this beach adds to the atmosphere. However it is the nature that makes it feel like a remote island. The sand is rougher than the north, and you can also find mangroves scattered across the southern beaches. The water is calm by Adalaide beach. Most of the swells will come from the North side of the island. For young children, Adalaide beach could be safer than the rougher waters which are found on some of the Northern beaches.

Reviews

This beach stands out from the others because it is mostly private. Guests have left reviews stating that it is the highlight of their trip. An interesting aspect to keep in mind is that on national holidays, the private resorts open their beaches up to the locals. You may have spent your holiday on secluded beaches. Therefore, if you want to converse with locals, come to Cable beach on Holidays.
